Helping Myanmar Believers in Japan

The suffering of our brothers and sisters in Myanmar is unimaginable. For years, they’ve faced civil war, displacement, and loss, with the recent earthquake adding even more pain. “Every Myanmar believer prays for a Bible in Myanmar language and we are so grateful that we learned about the work of New Life Ministries in Japan,” says Pastor Tete, a restaurant owner who is passionate about discipling believers and reaching the lost. Pastor Tete serves as a minister at Light Worship Center in Tokyo. During the week, she runs a restaurant serving Myanmar dishes.
For these believers, a Bible in their language isn’t just a gift—it’s essential for understanding God’s love and promises, and for raising future generations in His Word.

Myanmar Believers in Tokyo

In Tokyo, a group of 200-300 Myanmar believers from different and smaller churches in the city gathered one Sunday to share local cuisine, stories about their home country, and their new lives in Japan. For hours, they worshipped and studied the Word together. All of them were grateful for the chance to do so in their own language. Many are fluent in Japanese. Some have become Japanese citizens, and all share a passion for evangelizing in Japan.

When Pastor Htet Htet first visited NLM, she could not believe her eyes – their very own Burmese Bible, the Judson translation, was being printed in Japan. It was a moment of deep joy and sorrow – joy because the Word of God was so near, yet sorrow because many believers in Tokyo had no way of getting a copy. As a pastor, she shared how the new believers and the newly baptized members in Tokyo were desperately searching for Bibles. They wanted to grow in their faith, but copies were scarce. When NLM handed them a few Bibles, Pastor Htet Htet’s face lit up with hope. She held the Bible close to her and told NLM that her people needed to have such Bibles.

Pastor Saw’s love for his people— not only those living in Japan but also the millions who were left behind or scattered as refugees in various nations—was so deep, that his voice broke as he spoke.

NLM as a Bridge of Godly Hope

The need for God’s Word in their heart language is essential and urgent. NLM is partnering with Asia Harvest to print 4,000 Burmese Judson Bibles for these brothers and sisters from Myanmar. Revelation 7:9 reminds us, “After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people, and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.” God’s Word must reach every language and culture, so all may understand the message of salvation.

A Continuing Ministry for Myanmar

Let’s pray and support NLM in this mission to bring God’s Word to Myanmar believers in Japan and in the region. Our prayer is to support local church leaders, missionaries, church planters, and faithful believers in their evangelism and discipleship efforts wherever they are in the world. As we move forward with this mission, we humbly ask for your support. Your prayers, donations, and partnership will make it possible to provide these precious Bibles to more Myanmar believers.

Will you join us in this challenging but meaningful work? Thank you for standing with us as we believe for true peace, provision, and healing for the nation of Myanmar.

ABOUT US

New Life Ministries is a non-denominational Christian ministry committed to serving the Lord by printing and sending Bibles and Gospel literature to Japan and the rest of the world, in each people group’s heart language.
Beginning in 1954, under the name New Life League, the ministry reached out to children, provided Gospel literature, and did evangelism through radio broadcast.
Later on, the work shifted more to the collection and printing of Gospel literature as the main focus.
Throughout history, there has always been a call for the supply of Bibles, and New Life Ministries has continued to do all that it can to meet the demand. Our purpose is to see Japan changed for Jesus, and that the whole world be filled with His precious Word.
