Late last year, New Life Ministries sent out a shipment of The Messiah in English, to our mission partner Scripture Union in Africa.
A total of 20,000 manga were sent to four countries (Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, and Malawi), 5,000 copies each.
These manga arrived in the region around February of this year, and distribution is underway.
Recently, our mission partner sent us a report on the distribution situation in Uganda, along with photos.
SU Uganda gave out two hundred and forty seven copies of The Messiah in Luuka district. Two of the schools were Roman Catholic schools, Our Lady Senior Secondary School and Immaculate Heart of Mary.
The students loved the book because of its comic nature. Even the Muslim students wanted a copy to read it as a novel, but even more, the adults wanted them too!
We encouraged the students to read the scriptures at the bottom.
I think it is a great tool, a light fun way to share the gospel by retelling the biblical story of our Messiah.
We thank God that these have been safely delivered to the children!
Scripture Union has a vision for more projects using more The Messiah and this booklet is the first of many. The response to these cartoons will lead to more “The Messiah” being printed.
Please remember and pray that these projects will be blessed abundantly and that the manga will be used well.
New Life Ministries is a non-denominational Christian ministry committed to serving the Lord by printing and sending Bibles and Gospel literature to Japan and the rest of the world, in each people group’s heart language.
Beginning in 1954, under the name New Life League, the ministry reached out to children, provided Gospel literature, and did evangelism through radio broadcast.
Later on, the work shifted more to the collection and printing of Gospel literature as the main focus.
Throughout history, there has always been a call for the supply of Bibles, and New Life Ministries has continued to do all that it can to meet the demand. Our purpose is to see Japan changed for Jesus, and that the whole world be filled with His precious Word.
